getting flick working
answers for setting up and syncing. if you're still stuck, email flick@gusfl.us with what you see on screen. i read every message.
before you start
- an iphone or ipad. running ios or ipados 15.1 or later.
- a way to sign in, for lists and ratings. an apple or google account, or an email address you can check for a code. search works without one.
- an internet connection. movie and show details come from the internet. your lists and ratings are kept on the phone and sync when you're online.
signing in
where do i sign in?
open the account tab. if you're not signed in, the sign-in sheet opens on its own; if you closed it, tap sign in.
where's the lists tab?
it only appears once you're signed in, because lists are saved to your account.
i never got the confirmation code
email sign-ups get a code by email. check spam and wait a minute. if it still hasn't arrived, use the resend option on the confirmation screen; it can be used once every 30 seconds.

that email address already has an account made with google (or apple). accounts are tied to how they were created, so go back and tap continue with Google (or Apple) instead of signing up with a password.
“sign in failed”
apple or google sign-in was cancelled or didn't finish. check your connection and try again. if it keeps happening, email me with the message shown under the title.
lists
how do i make a list?
lists → the + at the top right. give it a name and a description and tap confirm.
“cannot create list”
a list needs both a name and a description. fill in both and try again.
how do i add a movie or show to a list?
open the movie or show and tap the bookmark button under the poster art. pick a list in the sheet that slides up; tap it again to take the title back out.
how do i rename, reorder or delete a list?
open the list and tap ⋯ at the top right for edit list or delete list.
to reorder, press and hold a list (or a title inside a list) and drag it.
ratings
how do i rate something?
open the movie or show and tap the rate button under the poster art. set an overall score on the ring, add any of the category scores and a note, then tap save.
how do i delete a rating?
account → swipe left on the rating → delete. you can also do this from view all.
a rating isn't on my other device
both devices need to be signed in to the same account. pull down on the lists tab to sync, or reopen the app and give it a moment.
changes made offline are kept on the phone and go up the next time it's online.
your account
how do i change my username or name?
account → edit, next to your name. usernames need at least 3 characters: letters, numbers and underscores.
how do i change my password?
account → the ⋯ menu at the top right → change password. it's only there for email accounts; apple and google manage their own passwords.
how do i sign out?
account → the ⋯ menu → logout. your lists and ratings stay in your account and come back when you sign in again.
how do i delete my account?
email flick@gusfl.us from the address on the account and ask. your account, profile photo, lists and ratings are deleted, usually within a few days.
